crafted exhibition includes framed mixed media collages, material displayed in vitrines and sound installation. The three elements work together to compel the viewer to engage with and uncover a constructed theatrical narrative. There are elements within the work that recall the printed canvases of Robert Rauschenberg, Joseph Cornell&#8217;s Crystal Cages and the sound installations of Janet Cardiff recast in a personal mythology. I first encountered the work of Liz Murray in 1983 when she exhibited in the Galleria del Cavallino in Venice as one of the Sei Artisti Scozzesi. From that time she has continued to develop and refine her poetic visual language. This is an exhibition that deserves time and contemplation and will richly reward the viewer, as they themselves become part of the cast of this intriguing and enigmatic sequence of events&#8221;. Liz has been a regular exhibitor with Compass Gallery throughout her artistic career, participating in the Cabinet exhibitions; &#8216;A Patch of Their Own&#8217; Allotments Show; the London Contemporary Art Fair, and the Christmas Shows. This exhibition provides an opportunity to view and experience her beautifully executed works of drawn and painted images, layered papers and text. Liz describes her work as imagined glimpses of others&#8217; lives, memories, secrets and intimate histories. Torn fragments and half-hidden layers convey secrecy and mystery. In this exhibition, the lives of three friends&#8230;an accordionist, a dressmaker and a botanist, all with connections to the Rue Mouffetard in Paris in the 20s are hinted at through jottings, diary fragments, quilts and ephemera.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee (1965) in drawing and painting, Liz Murray is a professional member of the Royal Scotish Society of Painters in Watercolour and of the Scottish Society of Artists. She has exhibited widely and has works in many private collections. Public collections include the Scottish Arts Council, Angus Council and the Lillie Art Gallery.
