Graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, John studied under David McClure and Alberto Morrocco. He received a travelling scholarship which enabled him to visit numerous cities in Europe.
A figurative painter, he taught life drawing for many years. A regular exhibitor in Compass Gallery, Glasgow where has has had solo exhibitions as well as participating in many mixed shows over the years.
