Born in Paisley, Helen Wilson studied at Glasgow School of Art and Hospitalfield in the early 1970’s.
She is winner of numerous awards and travelling scholarships, including WO Hutcheson Prize for Drawing; the Cargill Travelling Scholarship; John Murray Thomson Award, RSA; Cyril Gerber Award, Paisley Art Institute and Alexander Graham Munro Award, RSW. She has had numerous solo exhibitions including in Compass Gallery 1988, and continues to live and work in Glasgow, exhibiting widely thoughout the UK and USA, in the RSA, RSW, RA, RGI and on a regular basis in Compass Gallery. She comes from the great tradition of figurative painters trained in The Glasgow School of Art.
