1926-2009. Scottish painter. After studying Law, he attended the Slade School of Fine Art in London (1952–4). His subject matter is traditional, featuring religious themes, landscapes, portraits and still-lifes. He travelled to Italy, where the clear light and natural landscapes had a large influence on his work. In 1988 he became a Member of the Royal Academy of Arts, London. In 2008 he had a solo exhibition at Cyril Gerber Fine Art, Glasgow.
